You can’t conclude Mohammed Salah is the greatest African player to play in the Premiership, Drogba was special
Salah not the greatest African player to play in the English Premier League according to former Nigeria striker Yakubu Ayegbeni.
The ex Super Eagles star rate Ivorian striker Didier Drogba ahead of the Liverpool forward. Despite beating Drogba to become the highest African goal scorer in League, Yakubu believes Drogba stand tall.
Drogba, during his stint with the Blues made significant contributions towards the achievement of the club. The Ivorian grabbed 104 goals with 55 assists as a Chelsea player in the Premier League, a record broken by Liverpool’s Salah.
Mohammed Salah on the other hand continues to set the standards high for next generation. The Egyptian currently sit as the top African scorer in the Premier League history.
The pair have both won the Champions League and Premier League titles, however, Yakubu feels Salah is no where near the ex Chelsea star.
When asked in an interview, who is the greatest between the pair to play in the English League. Yakubu an ex striker for striker for Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Everton said chose Drogba ahead of the Egyptian.
Yakubu on the best African player to grace the occasion in the Premier League;
“You can’t say Salah is the greatest African player to play in the Premier League. Drogba was something special, he was scoring for fun.
