Born on 19 January 2003 in Sunyani Felix Ohene Afena Gyan is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for the Ghana national team and Serie A side AS Roma.

Afena-Gyan had little footballing experience back home in Ghana. His only club team in Ghana was EurAfrica FC, who signed him way back from his high school days.

The Black Stars striker spent three years with the academy side before moving to Italy to join AS Roma in 2021.

Felix Afena-Gyan has come a long way in a short period of time. Until the year 2018, the youngster’s real competitive football came for his high school side.

The establishment of EurAfrica FC academy in 2018 was nothing but all for the Ghanaian.

There he continued to impress scouts, including Roma’s Morgan De Sanctis and Simone Lo Schiavo.

Despite not making any outing in Ghana’s Premier League or the country’s juvenile teams Afena-Gyan was signed by AS Roma in January 2021.

When did Afena-Gyan made his debut for AS Roma?

Wasting no time, Felix Afena Gyan made an instant impact, scoring three times in his first four outings for AS Roma’s under-18 side.

Following that he was quickly promoted into the reserve side, where he had six goals involvement in 15 appearances.

In the 2021-22 campaign, after hitting six goals in five matches for the reserve side, he was handed his first AS Roma senior appearance by Jose Mourinho against Cagliari on October 27.

During that game, Afena Gyan found the net two times against Cagliari.

When did Afena-Gyan played for Ghana Black Stars?

On 4 November 2021, Afena-Gyan received his first call-up by the Ghana national team. However, he turned down the invitation for the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Afena-Gyan made his first appearance for Ghana in the 2022 Fifa World Cup play-off against Nigeria on March 25, 2022.
