Timo Werner has labeled the incoming striker as one of the best top three strikers in the world
Timo Werner has healed Romelu Lukaku as a world class striker ahead of his imminent switch to the Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea earlier this week reached an agreement in principle to sign the Belgian from Inter Milan.
Lukaku is understood to have agreed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and will pocket around €12 million per annum.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a staggering season in Italy last term, helping Inter Milan clinch it first Serie A title since 2010.
He is expected to slot in automatically into Tuchel’s first eleven, posing a threat to Timo Werner’s position in the squad.
His imminent arrival is believed to affect Werner’s playing time at the Stamford Bridge.
However, the German is holding an opposite view, believing he will enjoy a brilliant partnership with Lukaku.
Timo Werner believes the ex-United Striker is among the top three strikers on the globe, and he’s relishing the opportunity of learning from him.
According to Werner, the presence of Lukaku would have a bigger impact on him in the final third.
In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “He’s probably one of the best three strikers in the world at the moment.
There is no question about that. I don’t think we need to say too much about him. He’s a world-class striker who would benefit any team.
“I certainly think at Leipzig that it always helped me having a big striker alongside me. I think that’s always good because I’m not the biggest and when you play up front on your own, you always have the attention of one or two defenders.
“It’s a good new weapon to have in our game when you know that if you play a long ball, he will hold it up. And then the fast players around him can the set off – I think that’s good for any team.”
Lukaku is expected to be announced as a new Chelsea player in the coming days after passing his medicals in Monaco.
He will become the club’s and the Premier League’s most expensive player surpassing United’s Paul Pogba.
