Fatawu Issahaku joins Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon on five year deal

Ghanaian international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku signs for Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon. Born on March 8, 2004, made his professional debut in 2019.

Fatawu an attacking midfielder began his playing career with Steadfast FC in Ghana. He over 20 appearances for Steadfast FC between the years 2019 and 2021.

Following a brilliant campaign with the Northern based Ghanaian Division One league club, Fatawu joined GPL side Dreams FC on loan in the year 2021.

At Dreams FC, he quickly adapted into the club’s setup, scoring six goals in his first seven outings for the Still Believes.

His impact at Dreams earned him a slot in the national team proper.

Fatawu Issahaku Black Stars debut

Fatawu Issahaku capped his first game for the Ghana national team in 2021. He later joined the Black Stars AFCON 2021 squad, making further appearances for the national team.

Sporting CP signs Ghana’s Fatawu Issahaku

Portuguese giant Sporting Lisbon have triggered the release clause of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku from Steadfast FC. The Portugal based club have signed the midfielder on a five-year deal.

Fatawu Issahaku will join the club’s U-23 side.

Fatawu is joining the Portuguese champions from Ghana’s second-tier Steadfast FC in a deal reported to be around 500,000 Euros.

After joining Sporting CP, the Ghanaian told reporter’s:

“Its a dream come true. I am ready to keep up my development at this great club. The reception here was amazing, all I need to do is to be focused and achieve my objectives.”
