Profile of Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets Burgos born 16th July 1988 is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for La Liga giant Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

As a one-club man, Busquets arrived in Barcelona’s first team in July 2008, from the La Masia after being promoted by then manager, Pep Guradiola, he eventually made a name for himself in a relatively short period of time, and has made over 300 appearances for the Catalan side since making his debut.

Busquets reached the Spain national team less than one year after making his senior club debut, helping Spain to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament and the Euro 2012 Championship. He has also represented the nation at two other FIFA World Cups tournaments (2014 and 2018) and Euro 2016 Championship.

The Spaniard is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive midfielders of his generation, and by some he is among the finest of the modern era.
