Ronaldo reaches a landmark of 700 career goals
It was a mixed feelings for Juventus and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo as he reaches a milestone, scoring Portugal’s only consolation goal in a 2-1 loss to Ukraine in Kyiv on Monday. Ronaldo converted a penalty in the second half to take his tally for club and country [Portugal] to 700 goals, as he continues his astonishing and remarkable achievement in the footballing world.
Ronaldo (34) now has 95 international career goals, 14 goals short of all-time record holder Ali Daei (109). His numbers for clubs includes; 450 goals for Real Madrid, 118 goals for Manchester United, 32 goals for Juventus and 5 goals for Sporting CP
It started with one goal, to some, 700 seems crazy, but for Cristiano, it’s just another milestone on the road to achieving his dream. When asked about his records, he said – “How many records do I have? I don’t know. I have to enjoy the moment and thank those who helped me reach this impressive mark.”
“Records come naturally – I don’t go looking for them; records are looking for me!” – he added.
Portugal will host Lithuania on Tuesday in the EURO 2020 qualifiers, as they aspire to qualify and defend the trophy they won some three years ago.
