Premier League clubs are preparing for the possibility of playing the whole of next season behind closed doors.
Talks of completing the 2019/20 Premier League season behind closed doors under neutral venues is ongoing, however, the latest twist of the issue is the possibility of completing the whole of 2020/21 season without spectators as well.
With clubs expecting the season [2019/20] to resume to normality only when a vaccine for the Coronavirus is made available, which has led to many clubs planning on limiting their spending powers in the coming summer transfer window.
“The Premier League have said failing to finish this season would cost its 20 clubs more than £1billion, but playing next season behind closed doors is likely to have an even more dramatic impact on club finances as majority of their money comes from broadcasting income ” – [Sky Sports]
June 12 has been discussed as the potential return date, but final decision rest with the government and will depend on the next steps in the lockdown.
