Modric among other big stars missing in the final 30 nominees for 2019 Ballon d’Or
Luka Modric becomes the first player in history not to be present in the 30-man shortlist for the ballon d’or the following year after winning it.
The Croatian won the ballon d’or last year, beating regular winners Ronaldo and Messi after the two had been sharing the award between them for some considerable number of years.
However, the Real Madrid star missed out on an opportunity to defend the award he won a year ago, after being left out in the final nominees.
Also, big names such as Paul Pogba, Hary Kane, Neymar among others couldn’t make the cut for the final 30 nominees.
