Barcelona star Lionel Messi was crowned the best FIFA Men’s player of the year, beating Virgil Van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo to the most prestigious individual award in football.

The Argentine forward has now won the award for a record sixth-time, one ahead of rival Cristiano Ronaldo (5), after winning the Spanish La Liga title and scoring more league goals (36) than anyone else in Europe last season.

After winning the best FIFA Men’s player, the Argentine also features in the FIFA Men’s team for the 2018/19 season, which includes; Alisson (Brazil, Liverpool) as goalkeeper.
