The Red Devils have been given permission to speak to France center-back Raphel Verane ahead of a switch to Old Trafford
Manchester United have been permitted to negotiate personal terms with Real Madrid center-back Raphel Verane ahead of a potential move.
Raphel Verane is currently in the final year of his current deal at the Bernabeu and is understood to favor a move to England, even though Paris Saint-Germain are also in talks with his camp.
United are expected to open transfer talks with Real Madrid as soon as they finalize personal terms with the experienced defender.
However, the Red Devils are believed to be cautious about Verane, as they do not want to repeat what happened with Sergio Ramos back in 2015, when they were given false encouragement that Ramos would come to Old Trafford, only for him to commit his future to Real Madrid.
The World Cup winner is one of a number of center-back Man United are looking at this summer as they make the position a priority to strengthen.
Having already secure the signature of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in a deal worth around £73 million, subject to a medical.
The signing of Verane would be another significant statement of intent to challenge rivals Manchester City for the Premier League crown next season, having justified his status as one of the best defenders in the World since joining the Galaticos from Lens in 2011.
The 28-year-old has made over 350 appearances for Real Madrid, playing an instrumental role in Madrid’s recent success in the Champions League. Moreover, he also helped France in the 2018 World Cup glory in Russia.
