Andre Dede Ayew starred for Swansea in their promotion to Premier League
Ghana’s captain Andre Dede Ayew once again stole the show as Swansea City took an early advantage over Barnsley in Championship play-off first leg.
The Swans captain rose to the occasion, scoring the only goal for his club to earn a vital victory away from home in a crucial and pulsating encounter.
The victory over Barnsley put Ayew’s side in a good position to qualify to the final of the play-off with a possible showpiece against Brentford or Bournemouth awaiting.
And the ultimate winner will secure promotion into the Premier League, alongside Norwich City and Watford.
Steve Copper described Ayew’s goal as a moment of excellence
Swansea City’s manager Steve Copper hailed the Ghanaian international describing his strike as ‘a moment of excellence‘.
“We knew what the game would be, we felt it would go a certain way and away from home you have to respect that and stand up to it and match it, Copper told the club’s official website.
“I thought we did that. We got a real moment of excellence with Andre’s goal and we managed to continue to be strong defensively.”
Andre Ayew has now scored FIVE goals this season where he cut in from the right wing, beat his man before curling the ball to the far post and Monday’s strike took his tally for the season to 17 goals
