Michael Ballack questions Dutch international Van Dijk performance
Liverpool Van Dijk performance has been questioned by former Chelsea midfielder Ballack. He believes the Dutchman is lucky to play in a weak era.
The German international believes Van Dijk’s opponent are not as tough as those days in the Premier League.
The experienced center-back signed for the Red in January, 2018. He joined the Merseyside club in a then world record fee for a defender. Formerly a giant for Southampton, Van Dijk caught the eye of Liverpool.
After making his dream move to the Merseyside, the Dutch international has been a key player since his first appearance for the club.
His influence at Anfield helped the English side to reach the Champions League final just few months after his first outing for the club. However, Liverpool lost the mantle to eventually winners Real Madrid.
Proving his worth, Van Dijk once again rose to the occasion to as Liverpool clinch the 2019 Champions League title. Following a stellar campaign, he was shortlisted in the 2019 Ballon d’Or top three.
In the year 2020, the Netherlands defender played yet another key role as Liverpool won it first ever Premier League title.
With his influence and leadership at the club, many football fanatics labels him as one of the greatest defenders to play in the Premier League.
An opinion former German international Ballack opposes. According to him Van Dijk is fortune to play in a less demanding era.
