Liverpool stayed put to prevent Chelsea come back, as they beat the Blues 2-1 at the Stamford Bridge.

After losing out to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup, Chelsea hosted the Reds once again, but this time a pulsating encounter in the Premier League that saw Liverpool as run away winners.

Trent Alexander-Arnold fired Liverpool in front within 15 minutes of action, lashing a shot pass Kepa Arrizabalaga into the top corner following a Mo Salah roll over into his path.

Chelsea gained momentum into the game and somehow found the net through Azpilicueta, but VAR found Mount to be offside in the build-up to the goal, hence the goal was disallowed.

Liverpool further added more salt into Chelsea’s wounds by doubling their lead through Roberto Firmino in the 30th minutes

The Blues could have reduced the deficits before the break but they lacked composure in front of the goal post as they went into the break thrilling to Liverpool by two-goals.

The Reds became increasingly confident in the second half, as they continued to pile pressure on the host, but Chelsea were more resilient as they stayed put to soak the pressure from the visitors.

Chelsea never gave up, as N’Golo Kante found the net with a delightful goal to boost any hopes of come back, but Liverpool held on to secure all three point after the final whistle.

This result still leaves manager, Frank Lampard without a win on home soil (Stamford Bridge) in this season’s Premier League.
