Liverpool stretch their lead at the top of the table

Liverpool extend their lead at the top of the Premier League after a 3-1 victory over title rivals and champions Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.


The Reds were unstoppable in the first fifteen minutes of action, thanks to a third and thirteenth minutes strikes from Fabinho and Salah respectively, before Mane made it 3-0 for the host [Liverpool] in the 51st minutes.

Manchester City, kept pushing forward but it looked increasingly unlikely for the visitors to stage a come-back, as a found a consolation goal through Bernardo Silver in the 78th minutes

Liverpool are now nine points above Manchester City, who are now third on the standings, following Leicester City 2-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday evening.

Prior to super Sunday encounter, Manchester United hosted Brighton at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were 3-1 winners over the visitors [Brighton], thanks to goals from Andreas Pereira, a Davy Propper own goal and Marcus Rashford finish from close range after Brighton had pulled a goal back to restore the Red Devils two-goal lead.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa were beaten 2-1 by Wolves at the Molineux Stadium
