France and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has rubished claims that Cristiano Ronaldo took his shine at the Santiago Bernabue, going ahead to name him the best player.

Benzema joined the Los Blancos in the same year as Ronaldo, 2009.

As prolific as he was then, the France International failed to proper as a striker according to many fans.

In nine seasons, the Portuguese outshine Benzema in front of the goal post, this has led to many to believing the Frenchman has failed as a striker.

However, the situation has changed since Ronaldo departed Real Madrid in 2018.

Since then, Karim Benzema has been Real Madrid’s top scorer, hitting over 40 goals in the 2021/22 season.

This has led to people saying Ronaldo’s presence limited the French striker.

However, Benzema feels otherwise, and even going ahead to call the Madrid legend the greatest player ever.

In an interview, Benzema said:

“Cristiano [Ronaldo]? Are you joking? He did not limit my abilities in any way.

“He simply outshine me. I have no shame admitting this as Cristiano is undoubtedly the greatest player of all time.”

The pair enjoyed fruitful seasons at the Bernabue, winning two La Liga titles and four Uefa Champions League within five years.

Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed an illustrious career in Spain, winning four Ballon d’Or awards as well as establishing himself as one of the best player ever to play in La Liga.
