Madrid derby ends in a goalless draw

Zinedine Zidane’s side remains at the top of the La Liga, after a goalless draw with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Saturday night.

Madrid had most of its big names returning into the starting lineup; with Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard all featuring.

Meanwhile, Atletico were without striker Alvaro Morata, who picked up a red card during 2-0 victory over Mallorca on Wednesday.

The host had the better of a hard fought first half, with Joao Felix flashing an effort across the goal, before midfielder Thomas Partey and right-back Kieran Trippier; a torn in the flesh of Real Madrid floated dangerous balls into the area of the visitors from the flanks, but its lacked connections.

Real Madrid on the other hand, never posed any sort of treat, until a big chance in the last minutes pull out a stunning save from goalkeeper; Jan Oblak, as he got down low to his left to put Benzema’s fine header away.

The results leaves Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings with 15 points from their opening seven games, Atleti languishing in third and Barcelona forth following their 2-0 victory at Getafe ealier on Saturday.
