Ibrahimovic believes former Man United captain Rooney was underrated during his playing career
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has disclosed Cristiano Ronaldo took Wayne Rooney’s shine during their playing time at Manchester United.
The Swedish international further revealed that who ever played with the English man has to be happy.
Wayne Rooney, Man United all-time top scorer, joined the Red Devils from Everton. With his aggressive style of play, the English international did much of the dirty work on the pitch.
Signing for United at age 18, he gradually established himself into the setup at Old Trafford.
After finding his feet in Manchester, Rooney formed a formidable partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rooney and Ronaldo played a vital role to help the Red Devils clinch the 2008 Champions League title. His loyalty to his teammate, helped the Portuguese to win the 2008 Ballon d’Or ahead of rival Lionel Messi.
Following brilliant years of action together, Ronaldo opted to join Real Madrid, which separated the pair.
Without going unnoticed for his contributions to the game, Ibrahimovic believes Rooney’s shine was taken.
According to him anyone who played with the England all-time top scorer must be happy.
“Whoever played with him has to be happy, because he made them better. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves, when he played with Cristiano, all the work was done by Rooney but Ronaldo got the praise for the amazing goals,” Zlatan Ibrahimovic
With 253 goals, Rooney sit as Man United all-time top scorer. In addition to that, he is the only player in Premier League history to have over 200 goals and 100 assists.
