The ex Barcelona star insist he never had a hand in Kylian Mbappe transfer saga this summer
Lionel Messi has revealed he never convinced Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG after he agreed to join the French side.
Messi on clearing himself said ‘ honestly, I had just arrived’.
The Argentine joined Paris Saint-Germain after shockingly ending his spell with Barcelona. Messi had spent all his club footballing in Spain, but financially constraints caused by the Coronavirus pandemic made it impossible for Barca to extend his deal.
After joining PSG in August, fellow teammate, Kylain Mbappe was strongly linked with a big money move to Madrid.
Real Madrid made significant bids to sign the Frenchman, but the Ligue-1 giant rejected those offers.
Paris Saint-Germain remained firm and kept their prized assets. However, many reports claims Messi convinced the France international to stay put.
However, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has rubbishes those allegations, saying:
“Honestly, I had just arrived, I did not know him enough yet to go and speak to him about that and to give my opinion. A bit like everyone, I was waiting to see what was going to happen. But, in the end, he stayed with us and for me that is a great source of joy. It is another element in our favour to achieve our aims.”
Kylain Mbappe who has less than a year on his current deal has recently revealed he wanted to leave PSG in July.
