The Brazil midfielder believes Man United enjoyed a great season despite finishing the campaign without a trophy
Fred Rodrigues has termed Man United’s 2020/21 season as a ‘great success’ after the Red Devils failed to show up a silverware once again.
Manchester United finished in the Premier League top three successively under manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer, ending the 2020/21 season in second position, a step above the previous campaign.
The has club experienced some level of improvement under the Norwegian after he guided the Red Devils to their first final since Jose Mourinho’s reign only to lose out on penalties to eventual winner Villarreal.
Even though the Red Devils failed to show off a silverware in the just ended season, Fred still believes United had a great season, showing much improvement from last season.
Solskjaer’s side finished third in the Premier League as well as reaching the semi-final stage of the last season’s Europa League.
However, in the just ended campaign, United finished runners up in both the Premier League and Europa League.
Speaking to United Official Website, the Selecao star said: “Definitely, for me the team’s done really well and been growing over the season.
“We didn’t start that well as we didn’t have a pre-season. We had the Europa League semi-final which prolonged [our last term]. We didn’t have a pre-season and got better and better over the season and reached the final.
“I think overall the team’s had a great season, we could have achieved more, we wanted to win more trophies, but I think generally it’s been a great season.”
Fred arguably enjoyed his best season at Old Trafford since joining Manchester United in the summer of 2018, and is currently with the Brazil national team as they prepare for the Copa America.
