Manchester united have extended Uruguayan striker deal to another year at Old Trafford

Edinson Cavani has turned down interest from Argentinian giants Boca Juniors to remain with Manchester United for another year. The 34-year-old joined the Red Devils in October, signing an initial one-year deal at Old Trafford with an option to extend for a further year.

The former PSG target man has been instrumental for Man United in the later part of the season, helping the Red Devils to reach the Europa League final as well as cementing their second spot in the Premier League.

Following strings of brilliant performances, Cavani has becomes the fans favorite with many calling on him to stay at Old Trafford for another year, prompting manager Solskjear to even add his voice, admitting he has made it known to the striker that he would like him to stay after United’s 6-2 win over Roma in the Europa League semi final.

According to the 34-year-old the decision to stay at Old Trafford boils down to the love from the fans who were calling for him to be at the club for another year.

“Over the season, I have developed a great affection for the club and everything that it represents, Cavani said.

“From the very first moment that I arrived, I felt the confidence of the manager. As a player, this belief gives you the perfect opportunity to play your best football and I want to thank him for that.

“I have been touched with how much the supporters have wanted me to stay, and I will give everything to bring them happiness and joy with my performances on the field. I’ve not yet been able to play in front of the Old Trafford crowd and that is something that I cannot wait to do.”

Cavani has contributed 11 goals in his last seven outings for the Red Devils, netting eight times with three assists in that process.
