Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba couldn’t hide his joy after the Blues reached a deal to re-sign Lukaku
Didier Drogba has expressed joy to see Chelsea sign Romelu Lukaku following a lengthy negotiations with Inter Milan.
On Saturday, it was reported that the Blues have reached an agreement in principle to re-sign Lukaku.
The deal will cost the European Champions £95.7m and would make Lukaku the most expensive player in the history of Chelsea.
With the Blues on the verge of landing their man, Drogba couldn’t hide his joy as he took to Twitter saying: “He’s coming home.”
The former Ivory Coast skipper joined Chelsea in July 2004 for a fee in the region £24 million from Marseille.
He managed 164 goals in 381 appearances at the Stamford Bridge, winning four Premier League crowns and the 2012 Champions League title.
The Blues are expected to announce the signing of the Belgian in the coming days.
Report claims the paperwork is now with club lawyers and once that is formalised, Lukaku will undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract.
It is believed the Belgian will take home around €12m plus add ons at Chelsea.
Lukaku played a key role as Inter won their first Serie A title over a decade, scoring 24 goals in that process.
