Chelsea have announced it has signed Thiago Silva
Chelsea have confirmed it has signed Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at the Pac des Princes.
The Brazilian centre-back revealed earlier this week that he will be looking to play elsewhere after his deal with PSG ended following the Champions League final.
“It was my last game for PSG and I am sad. I apologise to the fans and thank them for their love. I will come back with another role in this club. I want to play for another 3-4 years and ultimately play in the Qatar World Cup.” – Silva told RMC Sport.
Silva won a whopping seven French Ligue 1 titles during his eight-year stay in France, but leaves PSG having failed to achieve the European success desired most at the club.
And earlier this morning, Chelsea confirmed that the 35-year-old has signed a one-year contract at the Stamford Bridge having passed his medicals on Thursday.
Chelsea also have an option to extend the Brazilian stay at Stamford Bridge with an option for another year in the players current deal he signed in London.
Silva after penning the deal at Chelsea said:

Thiago Silva is Frank Lampard’s sixth summer signing summer following the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Xavier Mbuyamba.
