Chelsea faces mission impossible as Dortmund reject player plus cash offer for wantaway striker Erling Halaand
Chelsea faces a big task in their pursuit of Norwegian striker Erling Halaand as Borussia Dortmund reject their initial offer of player plus cash swap.
Tuchel’s side is understood to have offered either Tammy Abraham or Cullum Hudson-Odoi in part exchange for Halaand, but the Bundesliga are keen to hold onto their prized asset.
The Blues are very much in search of a new center-forward ahead of the new campaign after struggling in front of the goal post at times last season.
Despite clinching the Champions League trophy last term, Chelsea fell short in the striking force as the likes of Timo Werner and Abraham missed glorious opportunities along the line.
And with the recent departure of France striker Oliver Giroud to Milan, the London side are very much concerned about their striking options.
Erling Halaand is Chelsea’s primary target as they look forward to boost their squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
However, reports in Germany claims a move for Halaand would be a mission impossible for Chelsea, as Dortmund remain firm to keep the striker after losing Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.
“Chelsea are trying but it is going to be very difficult. At the moment it looks like mission impossible.
“It is unlikely but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.”
Haaland will be available for around £70 million next summer due to a release clause in his contract, but a significant bid can change the minds of Borussia Dortmund.
Along with Halaand, Chelsea are also interested in bringing back ex striker Romelu Lukaku and a move for Harry Kane is also in the pipeline.
