Sergio Aguero has hinted he knew he would play for Barcelona one day
Argentina’s forward Sergio Aguero says his move to FC Barcelona is a dream come true after switching camp from Manchester City to the Catalan city.
Aguero who spend ten years in Manchester revealed earlier this season that he would depart from the club when his deal expires at the end of the season.
With the curtains to the season drawn down, Aguero’s contract with Manchester City has ended and on Monday May 31, FC Barcelona confirmed they have secured the ex-Man City star on a two-year contract.
Following his move to Barcelona, Aguero quickly disclosed, saying it has always been his dream to play for Barcelona since age 14, adding that it would be great to play with Lionel Messi.
“I am very happy, I will try to do my best for the club, help the team win important things. It is an immense joy.
“For me, Barca has always been the best team in the world and Leo [Messi] is also there.
“I told [president Joan] Laporta before that as a boy I said: ‘One day they will surely notice me.’ And here I am. I didn’t imagine it, but anyone runs to sign for Barca.”
He added: “When Barca asked about me, I didn’t even hesitate. I told my agent that I didn’t want him to talk to another team, only Barca.
“It was an immense joy when they contacted my agent. I’ve been interested since I was 14 years old.”
The former Atletico Madrid man has penned a new deal that will see him remain at the Camp Nou until the summer of 2023.
The club have set his release clause at €100 million (£86m/$122m).
