Accra Hearts of Oak sporting Club was founded on November 11, 1911 in the then Gold Coast. Nicknamed the Phobians, the team compete in the Ghana Premier League.

Being the oldest surviving club on the land, Hearts wear the famous colour of yellow, red and blie. The Phobians popular playing grounds is the Accra Sports Stadium (Ohene Djane Sports Stadium).

The Stadia has a capacity of about 35,000.

How many trophies has Accra Hearts of Oak won

Hearts of Oak won their first major match in 1922 when, then governor of Gold Coast, Sir Gordon Guggisberg founded the Accra Football League. 

Following that the club has flourished since, winning some notable trophies across the length and breath of Ghana, as well as Africa in general.

Phobia biggest rival is Just based club Asante Kotoko. The pair have rocked shoulders in Ghana football. This two teams also holds one of the dark moments in Ghana football.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko holds the record for most GPL titles won, after clinching 24 trophies to Hearts 21.

In addition, the Porcupine Warriors have also won the CAF Champions League on two occasions, while it rivals can boost of only one.

Record holders for most FA Cups won, Kotoko have 5 while the Phobians have 11.

Once again, Phobia is the first club to win the treble in the history of Ghana football, after winning the CAF Champions League, GPL and the FA Cup in 2001.

What Happened on May 9th in Ghana

In the year 2001, fans of both Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko clashed at the Accra Sports Stadium, where hundreds of people lost their lives on May, 9.
