Mohammed Kudus Transfer to Tottenham: What Spurs Offer and What It Means for Ghana

Mohammed Kudus is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most electrifying football talents. Following a breakout season at West Ham United, the Ghanaian midfielder has completed a high-profile move to Tottenham Hotspur. On the surface, Mohammed Kudus transfer to Tottenham looks like a clear step up—but in football, things are rarely that straightforward.

In this deep dive, we’ll explore why Kudus’ transfer to Tottenham might actually be a step down in his career — and what it means for his long-term potential and Ghanaian football as a whole.

West star Mohammed Kudus leaves to join Spurs

Mohammed Kudus at West Ham: The Main Man

The Ghanaian international spent just one full season with the Hammers after joining West Ham from Ajax in summer 2025. Spending only one year in with the North London side, Kudus made over 60 appearances for the club. Kudus has become the top scoring Ghanaian for West Ham United with 13 goals, surpassing André Ayew’s record of 12 goals. He finished his debut season as the player with most successful dribbles in the Premier League with 124 dribbles.

At West Ham United Mohammed Kudus wasn’t just good — he was central to everything the Hammers did. The Fans adored him. The system suited him. He was trusted to roam, create, and decide games.

What Spurs Offer and What it does´t

On July 10, 2025, Tottenham Hotspurs confirmed they have agreed a fee of around 55 million pounds with West Ham United for the transfer of Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanain international joined the London giant on a six-year deal after rejecting several clubs.

Hotspurs are a bigger brand with a larger global influence compared to West Ham. This is definitely a grater move for the Ghanaian forward. In addition, new manager Thomas Frank aims to rebuild his team with youth and energy.

On paper, Mohammed Kudus is a perfect fit for Tottenham Hotspurs, given how he has proven himself in the Premier League with the Hammers. However, Spurs recent track record is not encouraging. And below are the few suggested reasons why Kudus move to Spurs could be a wrong one;

Multiple managerial changes in the last few years.

Huge competion for Kudus amid the presence of Maddison, Richarlison and Son Heung-min.

What it Means for The Ghana National Team

Kudus is not just a Black Stars player, he is among the poster boys for the Ghanaian national team. He inspires millions of youth in Ghana and across the African continent, with many seeing him as the next Abedi Pele.

His visibility at West Ham was high enough — already a regular on global highlight reels. Kudus risks being overshadowed in a crowded attack at Tottenham Hotspurs.

For Ghana, this could mean a dip in form before major tournaments like World Cup qualifiers and the FIFA World Cup proper.

Despite being a step towards higher feets, Mohammed Kudus Transfer to Tottenham Hotspurs put him at a risk of becoming a rotational option rather than the focal point he was at West Ham.
